Felix Baumgartner Bio

Felix Baumgartner is an Austrian skydiver and daredevil, born on April 20, 1969, in Salzburg, Austria. He is best known for completing a parachute jump to Earth from a helium balloon from the stratosphere on October 14, 2012, and landing in New Mexico, smashing through eight world records and the sound barrier in the space of just three hours. The previous record was set by his mentor Joseph Kittinger in 1960.

Felix completed his first ever skydive at the age of 16. Since then, he did many BASE jumps and skydives. He holds two latter records until his Highest freefall parachute jump record was broken in 2014 when Google executive Alan Eustace jumped from 135,890 feet—or, 41.42 km (25.74 mi) with a drogue.

He was named The Men of the Year 2012 by Top Gear magazine alongside Chris Hoy and Ian Callum.
