Foals Bio

Foals is an English rock band from Oxford, England formed by long-term friends Andrew Mears on vocals, Jimmy Smith and Yannis Philippakis on guitar, Walter Gervers on bass and Jack Bevan on drums. Beginning as a protest band against progressive type sounds in Oxford, the band released their first single, ‘Try This On Your Piano’ in 2006. In 2008, Foals released their debut album ‘Antidotes’ which debuted at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was positively received by countries such as France, Netherlands and Japan. In 2009, their sophomore album arrived titled ‘Total Life Forever’ under Transgressive Records. Songs from the album were featured on UK shows such as Misfits, Entourage and Skins. Gaining rapid popularity, Foals went on to release another album titled ‘Holy Fire’ which cracked the U.S. Billboard Top 200 and landed at the Top 10 on the Top Australian Albums Charts. Having a long haitus since ‘Holy Fire’, the indie-rock band’s new wave sound was introduced on their sixth album, ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost, Part 1’ in 2019. The band is still actively touring to countries in Europe, the U.K. and around Australia and New Zealand.
