Foy Vance (1974, age 45) is a Northern Irish blues and alternative rock singer, songwriter and musician from Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. Vance began his music career in the 90’s as the lead singer for Belfast soul group, Soul Truth. In 1998, Canary Island of Lanzarote offered Vance residency at the bar and spent only two months at the bar before shifting his focus to recording his solo work. His six-track EP arrived in 2005 titled ‘Live Sessions & the Birth of the Toilet’ which was an album Vance had done in various lavatories around U.K. and Ireland. He later released a single titled ‘Gabriel and the Vagabond’ through Wurdamouth Records in 2006 which brought Vance popularity around the U.K. The single was also used for U.S. TV drama Grey’s Anatomy, along with two of Vance’s demo recordings for the show’s soundtrack. In 2007, Vance issued his debut album titled ‘Hope’ which was co-mixed and produced by Tchad Blake. By 2013, Vance issued his second album, ‘Joy of Nothing’ through record label Glassnote. While touring around the U.K. in 2016, Vance was approached by his longtime friend and pop acoustic artist Ed Sheeran who wanted to launch his third album. Through the encouragement of Sheeran and executive production by Elton John, Vance released the album, ‘The Wild Swan’, through Sheeran’s independent label Gingerbread Man Records. Joy Vance went on to open for Elton John that same year on selected dates of John’s Wonderful Crazy Tour around Europe. Shorlty after, Vance went to tour globally, with a sold out show in Perth, Australia and a string of gigs in the U.S., the U.K. and Europe. Vance had also been featured on Miranda Lambert’s album, ‘The Weight of These Wings’ on the single Vance co-wrote titled ‘Pushin’ Time’. Vance’s most recent album was released in 2019 titled ‘To Memphis’.
