Fran Lebowitz is a writer born on 27th October 1950 in Morristown, New Jersey, United States. She is widely recognized for her collection of essays, including Metropolitan Life, The Fran Lebowitz Reader, and Social Studies. She worked a few odd jobs before she landed a job as a columnist for the Interview Magazine in 1972. Initially, she covered “Best of the Worst Movies,” but later changed the name of her column to “I Cover the Waterfront,” where she covered cultural commentary on many cultural things, including fashion and AIDS.
She also worked at Mademoiselle and went to publish her two essay collections, “Metropolitan Life” in 1978 and “Social Studies” in 1981. She took a break from writing and starred in “Law & Order” as Judge Goldberg from 2001 and 2007. She went on to appear in films like “The Wolf of Wall Street.” She resumed writing later and is currently working on a new essay collection called Progress.
