An American activist, author director and actor, George Takei was born in California to Japanese-American parents. With a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and a Master of Arts, he studied acting at the Desilu Workshop. With a career that began in the late 1950’s his early work included Hell to Eternity and A Majority of One.
His career breakthrough came in 1965 when he was cast as Lt. Hikaru Sulu in the hit science fiction show Star Trek. He has since reprised his role as Sulu in many films in the Star Trek franchise. Most recently working heavily as a voice actor, he has worked in such films as Kubo and the Two Strings and will next be heard in Blazing Samurai.
