Gerrit Alan Cole is a professional MLB player born on September 8, 1990, in Newport Beach, California, USA. He spent his college career at UCLA, becoming a member of the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. He made the 2008 EA Sports All-America First Team, the USA Today All-USA High School First Team, and Baseball America All-America Second Team.
Pittsburgh Pirates made him the first overall selection in the 2011 MLB draft. Gerrit made his MLB debut for the side on June 11, 2013. He was the National League (NL) Rookie of the Month in September 2013 and the NL Pitcher of the Month for April 2015.
Gerrit joined the Houston Astros in the 2017–/18 offseason. He left for the New York Yankees in December 2019 in the largest contract total in Major League history for a pitcher. His career highlights include MLB All-Star (2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), All-MLB First Team (2019, 2021), All-MLB Second Team (2020), AL ERA leader (2019), MLB strikeout leader (2019, 2022), and AL wins leader (2021).
