Gian-Carla "Gia" Coppola (born January 1, 1987) is a screenwriter and film director from the United States. She is Francis Ford Coppola's granddaughter, Jacqui de la Fontaine and Gian-Carlo Coppola's daughter, and Roman and Sofia Coppola's niece.
Coppola dropped out of high school (Archer School for Girls) and received her GED after that. Coppola studied photography at Bard College in New York after completing community college.
Coppola remarked that she "felt a little burned out on taking images after years of churning out so many for classes" after attending Bard College. As a result, she became interested in film as a medium.
