Gianluca Busio, (born May 28, 2002 in Greensboro, North Carolina) is best known as a midfielder for Serie B club Venezia and the United States national team.
Busio began his professional career in 2017 when he signed with Sporting Kansas City, a Major League Soccer (MLS) team. At just 15 years old, he became the youngest signing in Sporting Kansas City history.
In his debut season with Sporting Kansas City, Busio made his first-team debut in the U.S. Open Cup, becoming the youngest player to appear in the tournament. In August 2021, he completed a high-profile transfer to Serie A side, Venezia FC. He became the first American player to transfer directly from an MLS club to an Italian top-flight team for a transfer fee reported to be around $7 million.
At the international level, Busio has represented the United States national team. He made his senior debut in 2021 and has since been part of the U.S. squad in major tournaments, including the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
