Gil Bellows is a Canadian actor, writer, and director born June 28, 1967, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Bellows is mostly known for his role in the television legal comedy-drama series Ally McBeal (1997-2002). In the hit series created by the known legal TV shows creator David E. Kelley, Bellows portrayed one of the main love interests of the protagonist, Billy Thomas. Bellows is also known for portraying the CIA agent Matt Callan in the television series The Agency (2001-2003). Bellows also has a reputable movie career, appearing in hit films such as the masterpiece The Shawshank Redemption (1994) with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman (in the role of Tommy), Love and a .45 (1994) alongside Renée Zellweger, Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997) with Sigourney Weaver, as well as Hunt to Kill (2007), an action movie with Steve Austin and Eric Roberts. Bellows also continued his television work by appearing in 10 episodes of the police drama series, Eyewitness (2016) as well as in the series Patriot (2015–2018) in the role of Lawrence Lacroix.
