Gilberto Santa Rosa is a Puerto Rican singer and bandleader born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on August 21, 1962. Rosa sings and creates salsa and bolero music and is known as “El Caballero de la Salsa.” He had an interest in music from a young age and as a teenager performed in his first concert. He started his music career in 1976 as a backup singer for the Mario Ortiz Orchestra. He soon became the lead singer of the La Grande Orchestra. In 1986 he released his debut studio album titled Good Vibrations. He has since released a number of albums, including Keeping Cool!, Punto de vista, De cara al viento, Esencia, Intenso, Viceversa, Contraste, Irrepetible, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Necesito un bolero, Oro salsero, Perspectiva, De amor y Salsa, En vivo desde el Carnegie Hall and many more. In 2008 he was honored with the key to the City by Union City, New Jersey and received a star on the Walk of Fame at Union City’s Celia Cruz Park. Rosa holds the record for most number-one albums on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart.
