Gillian Anderson, born Gillian Leigh Anderson on August the 9th 1968 in Illinois and is an American-British actress, activist and writer. Starting a career in 1986 she has thus far won an Emmy, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Golden Globe for her work. Some of her best known credits include Dana Scully in the long running series, The X-Files, where she worked alongside David Duchovny for eleven seasons.
Anderson is also well known for portraying Lily Bart in the drama film, The House of Mirth and Stella Gibson in the hit crime drama series, The Fall. More recently well known for portraying Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, Edwina Mountbatten in Viceroy’s House and Magda in The Crooked House.
