Giorgio Armani is an Italian luxury fashion designer who was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza. In 1957 he began working as a buyer at La Rinascente, where he stayed for over 7 years. After that, he decided to pursue a fashion designer career and started training at Nino Cerruti’s atelier. He partnered with his old friend Sergio Galeotti and released his own ready-to-wear label for both men and women. He became more popular in 1980 when Richard Gere wore his clothes in the famous movie “American Gigolo”. Because of this, he started dressing several Hollywood artists for red carpets, including Michelle Pfeiffer, John Travolta, and Jodie Foster. In 2005 he began his haute couture line and has also expanded his operations, even opening restaurants and hotels. He currently has over 500 stores all around the world.
