Gladys Knight Bio

Born in Georgia, her career began as she won The Original Amateur Hour at the tender age of seven. The next year her family created the music group called Pips, alongside her brother Merald, sister Brenda, and her cousins William and Eleanor Guest.  Eventually becoming Gladys Knight & the Pips, they signed with Motown records and had major hits including the Grammy Award winning Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye).

As a solo artist, Knight performed in the Grammy Award winning AIDS benefit single That’s What Friends Are For, she then record the track Licence to Kill for the James Bond film of the same name. As a solo artist, Knight has had eleven studio albums so far, her latest released in 2014, and charted high in the US Gospel charts.
