Golshifteh Farahani is an Iranian actress, born Rahavard Farahani on July 10, 1983, in Tehran, Iran. She started acting when she was only six in theatre, and at age 14 she debuted on the big screen in The Pear Tree. The role got her the Best Actress award at the Fajr film festival, making her one of the stars of Iranian cinema. Since then, she has appeared in over 30 films including Bahman Ghobadi's Half Moon, the controversial The Music Man, and Body of Lies, directed by Ridley Scott. She also starred as Shansa in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and the Netflix web series Extraction. In 2012, she posed topless for the French magazine Madame Le Figaro and was banned from returning to Iran.
