Good Charlotte is an American pop punk group from Waldorf, Maryland made up of brothers Joel and Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas, and Dean Butterworth. The band started out playing small gigs and festivals in the Washington, DC area and garnered attention after playing alongside Blink-182. They released their self-titled debut album Good Charlotte in 2000, which was followed by The Young And The Hopeless in 2002, an album, which spawned arguably their most successful hit, Lifestyles Of The Rich And The Famous. They were idolized mainly by teenagers and those born in the 90’s. After a hiatus, they returned with a new album in 2016. The group has received eight awards throughout their career, including the MTV Video Music Award for Viewer’s Choice.
