Googoosh is an Iranian singer and actress, born Faegheh Atashin on May 5, 1950, in Tehran, Iran. She started singing on stage when she was three years old. She rose to fame during the 1970s for her pop music and her trademark hairdos and hip-elegant style. Throughout her career that spans over 60 years, she has achieved a cultural icon status inside Iran and abroad.
Googoosh also starred in many popular movies like Honeymoon, Along the Night, and 3 Crazies with Garshasb Raoufi and Mohammad Motevaselani. After the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979, Googoosh was banned from performing for over 20 years. Following the election of President Mohammad Khatami in 1997, she began to sing again. In 2000, she went on her first world tour, which began in Toronto. Since then, she has recorded several albums. She has also performed at prominent stages all over the world, including the Madison Square Garden, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl.
