Gov't Mule is an American Southern rock jam band formed in 1994. Guitarist Warren Haynes, bassist Allen Woody, and drummer Matt Abts formed the group in 1994, while the first two were still in the Allman Brothers. The trio released their debut album, Gov’t Mule, in 1995 through Relativity Records. In 1998, they released their first CD under Capricorn Records titled Dose. On August 26, 2000, the bassist Allen Woody was found dead. The other two members decided to continue to record and tour with guest bass players like Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jon Entwistle from the Who, Stefan Lessard from the Dave Matthews Band, Mike Gorden from Phish, and Les Claypool from Primus. Four of Gov't Mule`s albums have been included in the Billboard Top 200
