Greg Monroe (born on June 4, 1990 in the United States) is an American professional basketball player. He played basketball for the Hoyas as a student at Georgetown University.
Monroe demonstrated his abilities during his first season in 2008–2009, winning the Big East Rookie of the Year honor. The Detroit Pistons selected Monroe with the seventh overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draught.
As a rookie, he had an early impact, averaging 9.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Monroe spent several seasons with the Pistons, developing into a dependable player and becoming known for his rebounding and scoring skills. He had stints with a number of NBA clubs after leaving the Pistons, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and Brooklyn Nets, among others. Throughout his NBA career, he showed his versatility as a talented big man.
Monroe set a record in December 2021 while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves as he became the 541st player deployed in the league that season. His final NBA season was the 2018–2019 season.
