GROUNDATION Bio

Groundation is a California-based roots reggae band whose musical stylings draw inspiration from the sounds of jazz, funk, salsa, and dubstep The band’s humble beginnings took place in the 1998 jazz program of California’s Sonoma State University. Led by lead vocalist and guitarist, Harrison Stafford, the band also consists of bassist Ryan Newman, keyboardist Marcus Urani, trumpeter David Chachere, drummer Rufus Te Kanawa Haereiti, percussionist Mingo Lewis, and backup vocalist Kim Pomnell.

Groundation is best known for their most recent album, Building An Ark, released in 2012. Prior to their 2012 album, they had numerous releases that just didn’t really take off. These include Each One Teach One (2001), Hebron Gate (2003), We Free Again (2004), and Here I am (2009), among others.

Groundation has worked or toured with numerous artists, including Don Carlos, Pablo Moses, The Congos, Steel Pulse, Israel Vibration, and Rebelution.
