Gruff Rhys was born Gruffudd Maredudd Bowen Rhys in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales on July 18, 1970. He is known for being part of Super Furry Animals, a band which became popular during the 1990s. His interest in music started when he was around four. He released Yr Atal Genhedlaeth, his first solo album, in 2005. In 2007, he released his follow-up album under Candylion. Rhys collaborated with Boom Bip, and together they released Stainless Style. In 2010, he released another album – this time a duet with Tony Da Gatorra. His third solo album was dropped in 2011, and it was titled Hotel Shampoo. Rhys embarked on an ambitious project in 2013 and released American Interior which was a movie, an album, and a book which was released in 2014.
