Grupo Niche Bio
Grupo Niche is a Colombian musical group that was formed in 1979 in Bogota, Distrito Capital, Colombia. The founding members of the group included pianist Nicolas Cristanelo, bassist Francisco Garcia, saxist Ali Garces, trombonist Alexis Lozano, percussionist Luis Pacheco and singers Jorge Bassam and Hector Viveros. The group debuted with the release of Al Pasito in 1980, a year after they came together. They also featured at the 1986 salsa festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden. They released Tapando El Hueco in 1987 and toured Europe for the first time in 1989. Some of their well known albums include Tapando el hueco (1988), Me sabe a Perú (1989), Sutil y contundente (1989), Cielo de tambores (1990), Imaginación (2004) and 40 (2020).
