Gwenno Mererid Saunders is a Welsh musician and singer who was born on May 23rd, 1981. She was born and raised in the city of Cardiff in Wales. Her father spoke Cornish and her mother spoke Welsh.
Early in her career when she was just seventeen, she was cast in Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’ playing a lead role in the Las Vegas production. She then launched her recording career with two solo EP ‘Môr Hud’ in 2002 and ‘Vodya’ in 2004. She became an official member of ‘The Pipettes’ in 2005 and stayed with the group for the next five years. Her solo LP ‘Y Dydd Olaf’ appeared in 2014 on the Peski label. She dropped another EP ‘Le Kov’ in 2018.
Gwenno released other popular tracks including 2007’s ‘U & I’, 2012’s ‘Ymbelydredd’, and 2013’s ‘Chwyldro’.
