Hammerfall Bio

Hammerfall is a Swedish melodic power metal band founded in 1993 in Göthenburg by a changing lineup of band members from metal bands like In Flames, Ceremonial Oath, and Dark Tranquillity. With Jesper Strömblad, Joacim Cans, Oscar Dronjak, and Patrik Räfling, the band made a debut with “Glory to the Brave”, an LP which was awarded the Swedish Grammi in 1997. The album was very well received and put the band on the path for subsequent successes with the albums “Legacy of Kings” (1998), “Renegade” (2000). In 2002 the full-length “Crimson Thunder” (2002) went gold and started making waves for the band internationally. After issuing a live album in 2003, the band released two albums inspired by George R. R. Martin's “A Song of Ice and Fire”: “Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken” (2005) and Threshold (2006). The band went on to release “No Sacrifice, No Victory” in 2009 and “Infected” in 2011, and by 2016 they signed with Napalm Records issuing “Built to Last”. 2019 also saw the release of “Dominion”.
