Turkish singer Hande Yener, also referred to as Makbule Hande Yener, was born in Istanbul. She made her debut in the early 2000s, and since then, thanks to a number of songs that reached the top of the charts, she has established herself as a major figure in Turkish pop music. Along with her singing career, she is well renowned for her fashion sense and has often updated her look throughout the years. She has periodically changed her musical direction as well; for a little time, she began producing electronic music, but this phase was brief, and she soon went back to singing pop songs. Yener has been inspired by a variety of musicians during her career, including Madonna, to whom her persona, videos, and performances have often been likened. She was one of the few musicians in the 2000s whose record successfully sold over 1 million copies in Turkey.
