Happy Mondays is an alternative music band that was established in Salford, Greater Manchester, England in 1985. The band is renowned for being a precursor of the massively successful neo-psychedelic indie-dance trend that mashed together funk, pop, rock, and other genres. Shaun Ryder, who plays the lead vocals for the band, and his brother Paul Ryder, who plays the bass, are the band's founding members. In addition to them, the band's original lineup included their buddy Bez, who danced and played percussion, as well as guitarist Mark Day, keyboardist Paul Davis, and drummer Gary Whelan. It is impossible to pinpoint exactly when the Happy Mondays disbanded since different band members left at different times during 1993.
