Harrison Ford Bio

Harrison Ford was born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. As a young man he had many small, unaccredited movie roles but never made headlines. It was not until he met George Lucas who offered him a part in American Graffiti (1973) that his fortunes changed. His efforts scored him a leading role in what was to become one of the most successful movie franchises of all time.

Ford starred as Han Solo in the sci-fi epic Star Wars (1977) with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. He took up the role again in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983), and The Force Awakens (2015). It was the role that made him a Hollywood superstar.

Ford then took on the starring role in yet another huge movie franchise. He has starred in 4 movies as daredevil archaeologist Indiana Jones including Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and The Temple of Doom (1984). Away from these Hollywood ventures he has won critical acclaim for other movie roles. His performance in Witness (1985) earned him Academy Award, Golden Globe and Bafta nominations.
