Heather Watson, also referred to as Heather Miriam Watson, is a British professional tennis player who holds the title of Wimbledon mixed doubles champion. Watson was born on May 19, 1992 in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey, She was formerly ranked first in the United Kingdom. Together with Henri Kontinen, she triumphed in the Wimbledon Championships in 2016 in the Mixed Doubles competition. At the Japan Open in October 2012, Watson became the first British female to win a WTA singles championship since Sara Gomer in 1988. Watson became the first British female to win a WTA singles title at the Japan Open. In her junior career, Watson was victorious in both the US Open and the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, taking home the gold medal in both competitions. On the ITF Junior Circuit, she achieved a ranking of No. 3 in the world.
