Heaven 17 is an English techno-pop band that was formed in 1980 in London. The core of the band, Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware first came together as a duo in 1977, but soon they formed the famous band The Human League. This band quickly dissolved, and they began a production project called the British Electric Foundation, where they worked with musicians such as Tina Turner and Sandie Shaw. Thanks to this project, they met the final member of Heaven 17, Glennn Gregory. They released their first single in 1981, “(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang", which was banned by the BBC, but shortly followed their first album, Penthouse and Pavement, which was a complete success. They kept releasing albums up until 1988, when they took a break after the commercial failure of Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho. They came back together in 1996 with Bigger Than America, which was followed by a tour. In 2008, Marsh left the band. Their last album came out in 2013, which was “Live from Metropolis Studios”. Since then, they have been dedicating their time touring around America and Europe.
