Hedley is a Canadian pop rock band which got their launch on the TV reality show “Canadian Idol.” A friend bet band frontman Jacob Hoggard that his band couldn’t get onto the show; Hedley eventually made it to the final three before getting eliminated. By 2005 they’d released their debut single “On My Own,” which shot to #1 on the Canadian Singles chart. Their follow-up single “Trip” (2005) made it to #11 on the same chart.
Hedley is comprised of Jacob Hoggard (vocals, guitar, piano), Dave Rosin (guitar, backing vocals), Tommy Mac (bass, backing vocals), and newest addition Jay Benison (drums). They’ve toured regularly throughout the mid-2000s to the present day, though recently on hiatus. They’ve been nominated for many Juno Awards and won two for “Video of the Year” (2011) for “Perfect” and “Pop Album of the Year” (2012) for “Storms.”
