Herbert Gronemeyer is a singer, songwriter, and composer born on 12th April 1956 in Gottingen, West Germany. He started out as an actor in 1977 with the telefilm “Die Geisel”. The following year, he released his debut LP, titled “Ocean Orchestra”, followed by “Gronemeyer”, which was also very successful. In 1984, he signed a recording contract with EMI and dropped the LP “4630 Bochum”, which became one of the best-selling LPs in the German language.
He went on to release the albums “Sprünge” and “Ö” in 1986 and 1988, which topped the German music charts. In 1991, he released his first project in English, titled “Luxus”. In 2002, he released a new LP titled “Mensch”, which sold more than 3.2 million copies, which made it one of the highest-selling albums in Germany. He was awarded the European Hero titled by Time Magazine in 2005 for his humanitarian efforts.
