Hiss Golden Messenger is a country-folk rock act from the east coast, fronted by M.C. Taylor, a man born on the west coast in the sparkling white city of Irvine, California, who assembles session and touring musicians as needed. He’s also one of the few musicians in the world to maintain an actual blog, at hissgoldenmessenger.blogspot.com . Before you ask, M.C. Taylor explains the name as “I don’t think very much about the name of my band.”
Hiss Golden Messenger has been hissing out golden messages in album and single form, most recently signed to the Merge label. Taylor’s father was also in a band in Irvine, and taylor himself claims influences from the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. He has toured opening for the not-quite-gospel group Mumford & Sons.
