Holding Absence is a post-hardcore quintet from Cardiff, Wales. The band was formed in 2015, and their sound features pounding drumming, striking guitar riffs, and massive choruses. The main singer for the band is a man named Lucas Woodland, and the other band members are guitarist Scott Carey, bassist James Joseph, and drummer Ashley Green. In 2017, the band issued their first collection of singles. The following year, in 2018, they collaborated with Loathe to issue a split EP. The band did not issue its debut album until 2019, titled Holding Absence. In the early days of Holding Absence, there was a constant turnover of band members. Vernon, who departed the band the previous summer, is now a member of a new band called Parting Gift. Nevertheless, the band's line-up was completed when singer Lucas Woodland joined, and ever since then, they haven't slowed down in their upward momentum. SharpTone Records is their record label home now.
