Hong Chau Bio

Hong Chau is an American-Vietnamese actress and writer born on 25th June 1979 in Thailand. She is known for her outstanding roles in “The Whale” (2022), “Downsizing” (2017), and “The Menu” (2022). Chau started acting in TV and film in 2006. She worked with PBS shortly before moving to LA. her major roles came in "NCIS" and "How I Met Your Mother." However, her lead roles were in the films "American Woman" and "Driveways." 

She also got a major role in the HBO series “Treme” (2010–2013). The 2014 film, “Inherent Vice,” was her first feature film. In 2017, she got a supporting role in season one of the HBO series “Big Little Lies.” Notably, Chau received nominations for her film roles “Downsizing” as Ngoc Lan Tran and in "The Whale" as Liz, a nurse. She also received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Whale.”
