Hugo Wallace Weaving is an English-Australian actor. He was born on April 4, 1960, in Ibadán, Nigeria. His first TV role was in the series “Bodyline”, an Australian production in 1984. He later co-starred with Nicole Kidman in the movie “Bangkok Hilton” in 1989. In 1991, Hugo Weaving received the Australian Film Institute's Best Actor Award for his performance in the movie “Proof”. In 1998, he won the Best Actor Award from the Montreal Film Festival for his work in “The Interview”. In 1999, Weaving played the mysterious Agent Smith in the cult movie “The Matrix”. In 2001, he got international acclaim for his role of Lord Elrond in Peter Jackson’s trilogy of the “Lord Of The Rings”. In 2014, Weaving played the protagonist role of the Sydney Theater Company’s production of “Macbeth”. He was praised for that role and Peter Gotting of The Guardian said it was “the role of his career”.
