Idina Menzel Bio
Singer and actress Idina Menzel was born Idina Mentzel on May 30, 1971, in Queens, New York. When she was a teenager, she landed a job as a singer for events such as bar mitzvahs and weddings, and in 1995, she made her Broadway debut when she was cast as Maureen Johnson in the play Rent. She would go on to play in more Broadway productions, and also released her debut solo album Still I Can’t Be Still in 1998. In 2003, Idina Menzel landed the part of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Broadway production of Wicked, for which she won a Tony Award in 2004. Aside from her Broadway career, the talented actress has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including the film Enchanted and the series Glee.
