Imelda May Bio

Imelda Mary Clabby, also known as Imelda May, is an Irish rockabilly-revival singer who gained notoriety for her role in the swing band Blue Harlem. She was born in Dublin in 1974 and started her musical career in the local scene at age 16. By 2003 she was established in London and enjoyed a brief solo career as Imelda Clabby, releasing her debut No Turning Back in 2003. This album was re-released in 2007 with her current stage name, while the singer was also doing rounds with Blue Harlem. In 2008 May released “Love Tattoo”, which became a top album in Ireland. Her next album “Mayhem” went out in 2010 and peaked at number 1 in Ireland, and also got high rankings in the US and the UK. Her third album “Tribal”, produced by Mike Crossey, also became a number one in Ireland. The artist’s fourth outing “Life. Love. Flesh. Blood” (2017) featured the talents of Jools Holland and Jeff Beck. In 2020 she returned to the studio with the EP “Slip of the Tongue”.
