In Flames Bio
In Flames is a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1990 by Jesper Strömblad. In Flames is one of several bands credited with developing Swedish death metal and melodic death metal. The current members of the band are Anders Fridén on vocals, Björn Gelotte on lead guitar, Niclas Engelin on rhythm guitar, Bryce Paul on bass guitar, and Tanner Wayne on drums. The band was started as a side project of guitarist Jesper Strömblad while he was playing in the death metal band Ceremonial Oath. Strömblad quit Ceremonial Oath in 1993 and started focusing on In Flames. They released their debut studio album in 1994 titled Lunar Strain and have since released the albums The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, Clayman, Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to Your Escape, Come Clarity, A Sense of Purpose, Siren Charms, Battles, and I, the Mask. They have also released five EPs, two live albums, and two video albums. In Flames has sold over 2.5 million albums worldwide. The band has released their music and albums through the labels Nuclear Blast, Ferret, Wrong Again, Koch, Good Fight, Century Media, Epic, SME, Roadrunner, Fearless, and Eleven Seven.
