Indira Varma is a British actress, born on September 27, 1973, in Bath, United Kingdom. She is best known as Niobe of the Voreni in HBO's TV series Rome, Ellaria Sand on HBO's Game of Thrones, and Piety Breakspear in Amazon's Carnival Row. Her film debut was in the 1996 Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, directed by Mira Nair. She has appeared also in films such as Bride and Prejudice and Basic Instinct 2, as well as in TV series such as Human Target, Luther, and Torchwood, which starred Burn Gorman. The British actress also guest-starred in the popular detective series Bones as Scotland Yard Inspector Cate Pritchard. She lent her voice to Vivienne, a major supporting character, in the 2014 role-playing video game Dragon Age: Inquisition.
