J Boog Bio
Jerry Afemata, better known by his stage name J Boog, is a reggae musician of Samoan descent with sound influences from genres like R&B, hip-hop, and rock. At age nine, he began performing and family reunions, and knew then it was what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. During his short career, Afemata has been associated with reggae sensations Morgan Heritage, SOJA, and Raging Fyah.
Born in Compton, California, Afemata made his professional music debut with the album, Hear Me Roar. It was followed up by 2011’s Backyard Boogie, which not only topped the Billboard charts, but also won the artist ‘Best New Entertainer of The Year’ award at the 2012 International Reggae & World Music Awards. 2014’s album, Live Up!, peaked at #4 on Top Reggae Albums. J Boog’s latest works include the Rose Petals EP and Wash House Ting Album, both released in 2016.
