J.C. Chandor is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter, born in Morristown, New Jersey on November 24, 1973. He is best known for writing and directing the films Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year, and Triple Frontier. Chandor received a bachelors degree from The College of Wooster in 1996. After graduating from college, he directed television commercials for 15 years before making his feature film directorial debut. In 2011 he wrote and produced his debut feature film Margin Call. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Chandor has since written and directed the films All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year, and Triple Frontier. He has been a producer for the films A Most Violent Year, The Con Is On, Viper Club, The Robber, The Liar’s Ball, Untitled Sarah Shapiro Project, and Untitled J.C. Chandor Project. Chandor runs the production company CounterNarrative Films with Anna Gerb and Neal Dodson.
