J. K. Rowling was born was Joanne Rowling in Yate, the United Kingdom on July 31, 1965. She wrote the story Rabbit when she was six and her first novel at seven.
She conceived the story Harry Potter in 1990. In the next five years, she started mapping out the story for the seven books in the series. She published the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, through Bloomsbury Children’s Books in June 1997. Warner Bros. released the film adaptation of the novel in 2001. The last movie based on all seven books, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released in 2011. She also released the novel The Casual Vacancy.
She also wrote crime novels as Robert Galbraith which featured Cormoran Strike. She published the first book in the series, The Cuckoo’s Calling, in 2013. The Silkworm and Career of Evil followed in 2014 and 2015. She wrote the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two. She made her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set to be a five-film series.
