Jean Isabel Smith, better known as J. Smith-Cameron, is an American actress best known for her work in film, television, and theatre. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, on September 7, 1957. J. Smith began her theatre acting career in the late 1970s, but she made her screen acting debut in 1979 when she appeared in the film Gal Young Un. She has since had recurring roles in the TV series The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, The Equalizer, Law & Order, True Blood, Rectify, and Search Party, but she is best known for starring in the drama series Succession alongside Nicholas Braun, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Peter Friedman. J. Smith’s filmography includes In & Out, Harriet the Spy, The Rage: Carrie 2, and You Can Count on Me. She won an International Cinephile Society Award for Best Supporting Actress.
