Jacob Paul Tapper, better known as Jake Tapper, is an American journalist and author who was born on March 12, 1969, in New York City. He began working on ABC News in 2003 as a journalist. In 2008 he began working as a Senior White House Correspondent with the Merriman Smith Memorial Award three times in 2010, 2011, and 2012. In 2010 he also received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story - Long Form. In 2013 Tapper joined CNN and started hosting his own TV show called “The Lead with Jake Tapper” which won three National Headliner Awards. In 2015 he started hosting the political show “State of the Union with Jake Tapper” in which he had the chance to ask challenging questions to different politicians including Bernie Sanders, Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump. He published his first book in 2018, a political thriller novel titled “Little, Brown and Company” which debuted number 3 on the New York Times Best-Seller List. He later released “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor”, “Down and Dirty: The Plot to Steal the Presidency” and “Body Slam: The Jesse Ventura Story”.
