James Barker Band is a Canadian country band formed in Ontario, Canada. The four-member band features James Barker (lead vocalist and guitarist), Taylor Abram (guitarist), Connor Stephen (drummer) and Bobby Martin (bassist). It first started with James Barker and Connor Stephen and later joined by the other two members. In 2013, the band won the Nashville Star talent competition at Kempenfest garnering some major spotlight. In 2015, they performed at Emerging Artist Showcase at the Boots and Hearts Festival in Barrie, wooing the crowd with their contemporary take on country music with rock accents. The band signed a recording deal with Universal Music Canada and released its first single ‘Lawn Chair Lazy’ in 2016 which immediately climbed the Canadian Country Singles earning number 3 spot and gold certification. Their second single ‘Just Sayin' released in the same year also ranked number 6. Their third single ‘Chills’ made waves in country music and won the Single of the Year Award at the Canadian Country Music (2018). The band is also the recipient of the 2018 Juno Award for Country Album of the Year.
