James Cameron Bio

James Cameron was born on August 16, in 1954 in Ontario, Canada. His debut film was a 10-minute film called Xenogenesis (1978). What followed were art director roles in films such as the Piranha franchise. His rise to stardom can mainly be attributed to Terminator (1984), which he wrote and directed. The success from the film paved the way for more directing roles on Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), True Lies (1994), Strange Days (1995), and Titanic (1997). James earned a reputation as the best special effects director in Hollywood, so it is no surprise that he was the lead for the movie Avatar (2009). His work has earned him accolades such as the Academy Award for Best Director in 1997 and the Golden Globe Award for Best Director in 2009.
