James Fortune is a gospel music singer, songwriter, record producer and radio host. He was born on the 29th of November, 1978, in Richmond, Texas. He started singing in choirs as a young man and in 1999 he was named choir director at Higher Dimension Church in west Houston, Texas. His debut album was recorded alongside the choir group FIYA, which stands for Free in Yahweh's Abundance. and it was released in 2004 under the name “You Survived”. The single peaked at number 2 in the Gospel Song Charts and it was broadcasted for several weeks on major radio stations. In 2012, his album “Identity” was nominated for two Grammy, both as Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Song for the track “Hold On” which features Monica & Fred Hammond.
