James Thomas McCann is an American professional baseball player who plays as a catcher in Major League Baseball. He was born in Santa Barbara, California, United States, on June 13, 1990.
James spent his formative years playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks, and after being selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the MLB Draft, he played in the Minor League for the Gulf Coast Tigers, West Michigan Whitecaps, Lakeland Tigers, Erie SeaWolves, and the Toledo Mud Hens.
He made his Major League debut in 2014 with the Detroit Tigers, and he has since represented the Chicago White Sox and the New York Mets. Throughout his time with the Mets, Jacob deGrom played alongside Jacob deGrom, Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Edwin Diaz.
