Jan Kounen is a Netherlands-born French film director and producer born in Utrecht, Netherlands on May 2, 1964. He is best known for his French films Dobermann, Blueberry, 99 francs, and L’experience secrete. He is also known for directing several music videos for the English pop group Erasure. Kounen directed his first short films while studying at Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Nice. He went on to work in advertising and made the short films Vibroboy and Little Red Riding Hood. In 1996 he made his first feature film titled Dobermann. He has since released the films Blueberry, Darshan, 99 Francs, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, Fight of the Storks, Vape Waves and more. In 2015 he released his debut book Visionary Ayahuasca: A Manual for Therapeutic and Spiritual Journeys.
