Janeane Garofalo is an American actress, stand-up comedian, and writer born in Newton, New Jersey on September 28, 1964. She started her career as a stand-up comedian. While in college she won the title of “Funniest Person in Rhode Island” after winning a comedy talent search sponsored by Showtime. In 1995 she did an HBO Comedy Half-Hour Special and in 2010 did an hour stand-up special in Seattle on Epix. She made her debut in film in 1991 in the movie Late for Dinner and continued landing roles in the films Reality Bites, Cold Blooded, Larger Than Life, Touch, Sweethearts, The Cable Guy, Clay Pigeons, Half Baked, The Thin Pink Line, Mystery Man, Dogma, The Independent, Dog Park, The Laramie Project, Big Troubled and more. Garofalo has appeared in over 50 feature films. In 1992 she made her debut on television in the show The Ben Stiller Show and has since had roles in the shows The Larry Sanders Show, Tales of the City, Duckman, Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Felicity, Stella, Wainy Days, 24, Delocated, Nightcap, Gap Year and others. In 1999 she released the book Feel This Book: An Essential Guide to Self-Empowerment, Spiritual Supremacy, and Sexual Satisfaction.
