Janelle James is an actress and comedian from Saint Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands. She is widely recognized for appearing in the historical dark comedy series “Black Monday”. She started her career at an open mic in 2009. At that time, she was living in Illinois. She drew a lot of inspiration from popular comedians like Kareem Green, John Early, Richard Pryor, and Wanda Sykes. In 2016, her work caught the attention of Just for Laughs.
In 2018, she appeared in Netflix’s series “The Comedy Lineup”. In 2017, she was a writer for the late-night talk show “The Rundown with Robin Thede”. That same year, she appeared in an episode of the comedy-drama series “Crashing”. From 2020 to 2021, she played the recurring role of Joyce in the historical dark comedy series “Black Monday”.
